Nekdanji zvezdnik Liverpoola Roger Hunt, ki je leta 1966 z angleško reprezentanco na Wembleyju osvojil tudi naslov svetovnega prvaka, je umrl v starosti 83 let, so danes prek Twitterja sporočili iz angleškega prvoligaša. Hunt se je Liverpoolu priključil leta 1958 kot 20-letnik in zadnjo tekmo za rdeče odigral leta 1969.

Skupno je Hunt v dresu Liverpoola na vseh tekmovanjih zabil 285 golov, kar je bil dolga leta rekord, ki ga je uspelo leta 1992 preseči šele Ianu Rushu, še vedno pa je z 244 zadetki klubski rekorder po številu golov v ligi.
Leta 1966 je začel finale na Wembleyju, v katerem je Anglija premagala Zahodno Nemčijo. V šestih nastopih na tem mundialu je dosegel tri zadetke, skupno pa je za reprezentanco zbral 34 nastopov in dosegel 18 golov.
During an iconic career at Anfield between 1958 and 1969, Sir Roger Hunt scored a total of 285 goals for the Reds and stands second in the club's all-time top scorers list.
